Sea beans or spaghetti is a brown seaweed from the Brittany coast in the shape of long filaments.
It is highly prized for its nutritional qualities: rich in fibre, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and alginic acid (detoxifying).
Tasting
Sea beans are the most widely consumed Breton seaweed in France. Its iodised flavour and tender structure mean it can be eaten both raw and cooked.
They can be cooked in the same way as traditional beans. They are cooked in boiling (unsalted) water for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on the size of the branches. Afterwards, we recommend frying them in a knob of butter. Sea beans are the perfect accompaniment to meat, fish, pasta and pan-fried vegetables, giving them an ideal iodised flavour! Raw, they are also ideal for cold salads. Fried, sea beans are crunchy, slightly salty and truly delicious.
